Today is Friday and our typical work week is over, hence the term weekend. However, most of us on the weekend in addition to relaxation activities, we tend to do home maintenance like clean the house, laundry, grocery shop, and maybe even hit the gym. The same can go for our spiritual lives, so this weekend I challenge you to “end” some things that may prevent you from enjoying your weekend.
We can choose to end some things today:
- End Worry
An Old Hymn lyrics say
Why worry when you can pray
Trust Jesus. He is there always
Be careful then for nothing
God’s promise fully trusting
Why worry, worry, worry, when you can pray?
That’s a great question. the same energy and effort it takes to worry, we can redirect into prayer and get very different results.
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. Philippians 4:6
It’s not the problem, but how you react to the problem. By praying you take your focus off of the problem and you refocus on the problem-solver.
P.S. We will agree with you in prayer!
- End Fear
Sometimes, we have to really examine what we are afraid of? Fear is a terrible feeling.
I John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. Sometimes we bring unnecessary punishment on ourselves because we fear.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2Timothy 1:7
Not being afraid requires spiritual discipline.
You can start by memorizing scriptures
Here are a few dealing with fear
- Psalm 118:6
- Hebrews 13:6
- Romans 8:15
